KSUM Funding Guide 2026: How Kerala Founders Can Get Up to ₹50 Lakh in Government Support
The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is one of the most active state-level startup support organisations in India. Unlike many government schemes that exist primarily on paper, KSUM actually disburses money, provides real mentorship, and opens doors to investors.
If you're a Kerala-based founder — or willing to set up a unit in Kerala — this guide is for you.
What KSUM Offers
1. LEAP (Launch, Enthuse, and Propel) Grant
- Amount: Up to ₹10 lakh
- Stage: Idea/pre-revenue
- Requirements: Kerala-registered entity, prototype or MVP
- How to apply: Apply at startupmission.kerala.gov.in
2. ELEVATE Kerala
- Amount: Up to ₹15 lakh
- Stage: Early traction (some revenue or pilot)
- Format: Competition-based — top shortlisted startups get grants
- Tip: Strong on social impact and deep-tech projects
3. SCALE Programme
- Amount: Up to ₹50 lakh
- Stage: Growth-stage, proven product-market fit
- Requirements: Existing revenue, jobs created
4. Incubation at Integrated Startup Complex (ISC)
- Free or subsidised co-working in Kalamassery, Kochi
- Access to labs, prototyping equipment, legal and IP support
- Introductions to KSUM's network of 200+ mentors
The Application Process
Step 1: Register on the KSUM portal and create your startup profile
Step 2: Prepare your pitch deck — one slide per section: problem, solution, team, traction, ask
Step 3: Submit under the relevant scheme. Timelines vary — ELEVATE is annual, LEAP is rolling
Step 4: Shortlisted startups are called for a presentation before a jury panel. Dress rehearse this.
Step 5: Due diligence and disbursement — KSUM moves reasonably fast once selected
Tips From Funded Founders
- Emphasise Kerala impact. KSUM prioritises startups that will create jobs in Kerala or solve Kerala-specific problems.
- Have a working prototype. Even a rough MVP beats a slideshow.
- Get a mentor first. Applying through a KSUM mentor significantly improves your chances.
- Join Kerala Startup Village. The network and warm introductions from KSV are invaluable.
Beyond KSUM: Other Kerala-Specific Funding
- KSIDC (Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation): Debt funding for manufacturing and deep-tech
