• Bootstrapped, angel-funded, debt-funded, pre-seed, seed or Series A
• Less than $10 million raised in total
• Founded within the last 10 years
• A new Retool customer on the monthly Team or Business plan. Orgs that have paid for several billing cycles, or have been in the programme before, cannot join

Credit types and validity

How the credits are applied and when they expire

Create a free Retool org, subscribe to the monthly Team or Business plan (card required but not billed immediately), then submit the application. On acceptance the discount is applied automatically to your first invoice at the end of the first billing cycle. The 100% discount lasts one year from approval, then 25% for year two; no extensions. After that Retool keeps charging the card on file unless you downgrade to Free.

For founders in India

No India-specific terms published. Eligibility is the same worldwide; billing is in your account currency, and Retool notes a discount may fail to apply if the account currency differs from the credit's, so contact support if you are charged.

How to apply, step by step

1. Sign up for a free Retool organization
2. In your org's plans & billing settings, click "subscribe" on the monthly Team or Business plan. You have to enter a card, but you are not billed straight away
3. Submit the Startup Program Application linked from the Retool discount-programs docs
4. Wait for the acceptance email. The discount is applied to your first invoice at the end of the first billing cycle. If you hear nothing within a week, email startups@retool.com

Documents and details to keep ready

• A Retool organization on a monthly Team or Business plan, with card details on file
• Retool does not publish a document list for the application form

Common reasons applications are declined

• Raised $10M or more in total funding, or founded more than 10 years ago
• Already on a paid Retool plan for multiple billing cycles
• Organisation was in the Startup Program before (one enrolment per org)
• Already accepted into another Retool discount programme (nonprofit or education)
• Enterprise tier and annual plans are not eligible

Tips before you apply

• Upgrade to the monthly (not annual) Team or Business plan before applying; annual and Enterprise plans can't use the discount
• Apply early in your first paid billing cycles; customers on paid plans for multiple cycles aren't eligible
• Set a reminder before month 12: the 100% discount ends with no extension and drops to 25%
• If the discount isn't applied, check you aren't billing a second Retool account or a different currency

Terms to know

• Not valid on Enterprise or any annual plan. An org can join only one Retool discount programme, and only once
